My Skull & Co. Analog Thumb Grip Caps for my controllers (w/ my Paper Dolls) - Part 1 [Apr 10, 2021]
Hello! Iโm bring out a new topic, and hopefully Iโll be doing few parts as I can. Anyways hereโs my Part 1 review of my Skull & Co. Analog Thumb Grip Caps for my two recent wireless controllers (my Sony DualShock 4 for PS4 and my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad); with my Paper dolls of course.๐ฎ๐ฎ๐

So without further ado, letโs get started:
1st to 3rd Image(s): โข First things first, here are the packaging themselves (both front and rear). I picked two colors for each of my two controllers; Red on the leftย ๐ด (for my 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ Gamepad ๐ฎ), and Blue on the rightย ๐ต (for my Sony DualShock 4 for PS4 ๐ฎ).
โข My paper dolls saying that picking red and blue colors are a nice choice, but also a quite clichรฉ at the same time. Yeah, I know. heheh.๐
Although if I pick any color/pattern other than these two (depending on their stock avail), it wonโt be a clichรฉ anymore, just saying.
4th & 5th Image(s): โข Anyways letโs move on to their user manuals. On their front & back of mini user manuals, they seem to be quite different. On the other hand, the inside instructions are entirely the same, so thereโs no need to be guesting which is recent or not. Bottom-line these manuals are identical without any add-on instruction(s). You can read these instructions at any time.๐๐
6th to 8th Image(s): โข [6th Image]: Now on to their main items, the analog caps. According to the mini instruction manual, there are three types of analog caps to fit in on my controllerโs analog sticks; [top]ย โSkin Gripโ a regular analog cap suited for any game genresย ๐พ, [middle]ย โCQC Eliteโ a larger bold analog cap suited for fighting and/or close combat gamesย ๐ (BTW(#2): CQC stands for Close Quarter Combat), [bottom] and finallyย โFPS Masterโย a unique cap suited for any First Person Shooter (which is stands for) and sometimes Third Person Shooter games ๐ซ. Thereโs also theย โFPS Proโย ๐ช ๐ซ, in which combining withย โCQC Eliteโ andย โFPS Masterโ capsย to form a even unique cap, for a better FPS / TFS experience. Hope Iโll try that very someday when Iโm done other parts.๐
โข BTW #3: The touch and feeling rubbery of their analog caps is okay. Nothing special and sure itโs quite ordinary caps, but very decent quality at itโs best.๐๐
โข [7th Image]: Hereโs a side comparison of three different caps (from left to right:ย โSkin Gripโ,ย โCQC Eliteโ &ย โFPS Masterโ).ย While the FPS Master caps are the tallest among the two variants, bothย โSkin Gripโ andย โCQC Eliteโ caps are quite the same yet different sizes. At first glance, I donโt know which of these two are โSkin Gripโ and โCQC Eliteโ caps but when I look of their details and a mini user manual, I think my mind is very clear. Theย โCQC Eliteโ caps have circle edges, while theย โSkin Gripโ caps doesnโt have edges, just a plain regular caps so nothing special.๐ โข [8th Image]: Finally the room inside of their caps, hope my controllerโs analog sticks will fit & snug perfectly ๐. And according to the mini user manual the bottom edges of analog stick need to be very secure or else itโll be easily fall/remove.
9th & 10th Image(s): โข Finally here are the complete items of my Skull & Co. Analog Thumb Grip Caps.๐
โข My paper dollsโ thoughts saying that these caps look cool for my fitting wireless controllers, not to mention the skull on each caps looks menacing ๐. Yeah! And I canโt wait to try it out, very soon.๐ฎ๐ฎ๐ Also, nah theyโre pirates or sorts ๐ดโโ ๏ธโ, itโs just the name of the game accessory company, so no relation to actual โpiratesโ. lol๐

Overall: โข I like the quality look of the Skull & Co. Analog Thumb Grip Caps.๐๐ I purchase these two analog caps from two different online stores from Lazada Philippinesย ๐๐๐ต๐ญ; on the Red variant I bought it from Game One PH [CLICK ME!] , the original price isย โฑ250, but with some discounts and free shipping vouchers it cost โฑ198 [CLICK ME!], on the Blue variant I bought it from Game Master PH [CLICK ME!], the original price isย โฑ239, and much like I did to the red variant I use all discount and free shipping vouchers to make a total ofย ย โฑ139 [CLICK ME!] ! Wow, itโs a huge deal discount compare to my red oneโs discount price.๐ฒ
โข Now like I said before, on my next part. Iโll be try out fitting my Skull & Co. analog caps to my either two wireless controllers. ๐ฎ๐ฎ Will my 8bitdo gamepad first? Or my DualShock 4 controller? Please donโt answer my question, because weโll find out very soon.๐

My 8bitdo Pro 2 Review - Part 8 (Recorded Video) (w/ my paper dolls) [Mar 22, 2022]
Hello! Hereโs Part 8 of my new 8bitdo gamepad, the Pro 2 Bluetooth Gamepad/Controller! ๐ฎ๐
For this part, Iโm going to do a button test once again for my current 8bitdo gamepad, only this time w/ the current firmware already installed (v 1.07) from the previous part.

So, without further ado, letโs get started:
My Experience:
โข So far, I enjoyed playing games on different emulators & also PC game(s) (namely GTA V Online) using my new 8bitdo gamepad. Moreover, using D-Pad from Pro 2โs gray edition is slowly embraced w/ my left thumb after the departure of my old SN30 Pro+โs G classic edition. Overall, pretty much the same feeling as my old one, but thatโs v 1.03 firmware. Will the current firmware v 1.07 for the Pro 2 improve my gameplay test? Letโs find out in my record video.๐๐ฎ๐ฅ๏ธ
โข Iโm now at my trusty gamepad-tester website [CLICK ME!] & my Pro 2 gamepad immediately connected via my Ugreen Bluetooth after I press the start button once. That right there is far better โฌ๏ธ over my old SN30 Pro+ gamepad, where I press the start button for about 3 to 5 seconds (as far as I know). Anyways, my Pro 2 is already connected, and so far the face buttons, d-pads & other built-in buttons are all functional as before. The only noticeable changes Iโve found are the triggers, analog sticks & the turbo functionโs ring light. Letโs bring down the ff:
โ โฌ๏ธ Trigger Buttons: Their now significantly response in the firmware v 1.07 than the v. 1.03. You see, when I go gently pressed either of the two trigger buttons it had a response by a tiny percent, and I tested in GTA V Online during the free roam race when I press gently the car began to move slowly. The same goes for the brake button, I press it very gently & Iโve seen the red light glows at the vehicleโs back.
โ โฌ๏ธ Analog Sticks: Analog sticks, on the other hand, are now optimized, but I noticed that thereโs a tiny portion of drift when I tap the sticks. Luckily, the tiny drift wonโt affect my gameplay test, what a relief.
โ โฌ๏ธ Turbo Functionโs ring light: Finally the turbo functionโs ring light. When I pressed both the star & B buttons at the same time (or any other buttons), the ring light changes from super-rapid blink to now a slightly slow rapid blink. You know, this is fine, but I prefer the super-rapid blink over the slow one. Otherwise, the turbo function is perfectly fine as usual.
โ (Extra) โฌ๏ธ Start Button: I also noticed that the turn-off button which is the start button is now requiring a longer press than before. For about 5 to 6 seconds? Yeah, I measured it using the stopwatch. Hopefully, the new firmware will fix the longer start button for turning off my Pro 2 gamepad.๐งโ๏ธ
BTW: Both star & back paddle buttons are never present in the gamepad-tester (as always). Somehow, the start button didnโt work, because I switch off the shortcut button for XBOX Game Bar which I never use, only for recording anyway. Whereas back paddle buttons, Iโve never mapped it yet.
My Gameplay test:
โข As for my gameplay test, I would say itโs significantly improved. Iโve played all emulator games like Kirby Super Star Ultra (NDS) โญ, Gran Turismo 1 (PSone) ๐๐, Gradius Galaxies (GBA) ๐, and the aforementioned GTA V Online ๐๏ธ๐ซ as well as other emulation games ๐ฎ๐ฅ๏ธ. All seem fine without any issues. And as I said, Iโve slowly embraced the gray editionโs D-pad & Iโm getting the hang of it. Heck, I even try the turbo function for selected games (namely shoot'em ups) w/ the new slowly rapid blink ring light. Yeah, I prefer the old one though.

โข BTW, I forgot to tell ya! This is โRetroarchโ, my new home for my favorite game emulations! ๐๐ ๐พ This is basically all in one box. With Retroarch, I could load any games to my heartโs content; namely, Nintendo gaming portables (GB, GBC & GBA), Sega Genesis/Mega Drive, Sony PlayStation 1 & 2, and more! Pretty much everything in Retroarch, but to do that, it requires instructions & fetching data game files before you played any games you desire.๐ And your rewarded was this cool PSP/PS3 inspired theme which pretty cool, in my opinion.๐
โข My paper dolls want to play games! But, of course! Iโll invest two mini controllers for my paper dolls, someday.๐

Overall:
โข The v1.07 firmware for my Pro 2 gamepad improves my gaming performance. Although some weโre downgraded for start button & rapid blink for the turbo function after updating, so hopefully the next firmware will be addressed two issues Iโve found. Otherwise, it was a solid promise for my recent 8bitdo Pro 2 gamepad.๐
UPDATE [for Analog Joysticks]: Ummm... About what I said on the tiny portion of joystick drift. Well, I lied & I've seen a little minor problem, but not the majority. You know what, it might be there, but I guess this also should be addressed or waited for another firmware. Right now, I had to think hard on whether should I back to v1.03 by downgrading or maybe not, who knows.๐
